Code of Points: Dance Steps

Natalia Garcia (ESP)
The dance steps are continuous, connected dance steps, which could be classical, ballroom, folkloric or modern steps. A minimum of one Dance Step Combination (named S) must be presented in an exercise. All steps must be clear and visible for the full 10 seconds duration, starting with the first dance movement.
The last steps in combination cannot be simple walking and look like preparation for the next Difficulty element. These steps must be performed according to the music (character, tempo, rhythm and accent).
The value of each Dance Step Series (S) is 0.40
A minimum of one Fundamental Apparatus Technical element must be performed during these dance steps. Also small throws if they support the idea or increase the amplitude and variety of movement. They can be medium or large throws.

Dance steps in Groups (UKR)
How to create these combinations?
They are logically and smoothly connected without unnecessary stops or prolonged preparatory movements, with variety of speed, directions and levels. They are not simple movements across the floor. They are created with different rhythmical patterns with the apparatus in motion during the entire combination (different planes /axis,
directions and levels).
When are not valid?
- If they are performed less than 10 seconds.
- When there is no relation between the tempo, rhythm, character and accents of the music and the body/apparatus movements.
- Without a minimum 2 different varieties of movement (if 2 out of the 4 listed below do not change during
- When there is missing minimum one fundamental apparatus technical element during (S)
- When DB values more than 0.10 or Illusions
- Major alteration of the basic technique of the apparatus handling
- With pre-acrobatic element(s)
- Loss of balance during steps with support on one or both hands or on the apparatus.
- Total loss of balance with fall of the gymnast, performing steps

Ekaterina Selezneva (RUS)
When is it not possible to perform?
All these kind of movements must be performed completely on the floor. They could not be performed during (R), pre-acrobatic elements, difficulty of body when the value is more than 0.10 or Illusions. Difficulty of apparatus during S is not allowed.

Aleksandra Soldatova had opened up about her disease

Aleksandra Soldatova (RUS)
Aleksandra Soldatova, Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics World and European champion has been interviewed by Russia Today about her long-lasting battle with an eating disorder. She recognised that she needed help against anxiety, that was caused by a rigorous weight control. This issue has seriously damaged her mental and physical health.
She realized that she had a serious problem when her thoughts were only about food. She even starved herself for several days.
“I was always out of energy and didn’t have the power to train. But I was afraid to admit that I had an eating problem,”

She became lonely and unsociable and she tried not to meet people at cafes or restaurants, since this implied eating. Then she realized that she was over the limit and has to tell her problem to her coaches, who managed to stop her bulimic behaviors.
There were recent reports led Soldatova to open up on her battle with bulimia for at least, two years, that has constantly affected her. She confirmed she told to her coaches that she was suffering from this disease in summer of 2018. Anna Dyachenko, her coach, talked to her for up to three hours.
The alarms lighted up when in September of last year, Soldatova lost consciousness at a World Cup event in Portugal, leading to her being left out of the Russian team for that month’s World Championships. She confirmed that she ate alone and went everywhere alone, ignoring what was going on with her while her health condition was getting worse.
“I still has nightmares in which I gain weight, which remains a fear.”
Soldatova said she is taking a career break and not in a rush with her treatment, acknowledging that “professional sports and bulimia are not compatible, especially when you need to prepare for the Olympic Games.”

Irina Viner Usmanova about the decision for not signing up at European Championships

Irina Viner-Usmanova
39 countries already have signed up for European Championships 2020 in Kiev, Ukraine.
The surprising fact is that team Russia did not sign up for this event, that is scheduled from 26 to 29 November 2020 in Kiev. A final decision, due to the global health crisis, will be taken on 28 September. European Championships of Kiev is a part of the Olympic Qualification Proccess. Russia was already qualified.
The president of Russian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation said that “the conditions presented by the event organizers are unacceptable”. Those are, that the sportswomen and sportsmen have to be in quarantine before the event.
Irina Viner Usmanova also mention that the cancellation probability of the Championships is very high, due to the Health Worldwide situation. Another reason is the diplomatic tense relationship between Russia and Ukraine.
“We don’t have direct flights from Russia to Ukraine right now. We also could have the posibility of isolation in the middle of our trip. Due to this situation, I don’t want to endanger our Team, since we are already qualified for Olympic Games”
The UEG will confirm the final decision at the end of September.

Interview to Daria Trubnikova

Daria Trubnikova (RUS)
“During quarantine, we connected to each other using Skype, Zoom…We trained in our rooms. The coaches could also watch us, so that they could correct our trainings”
The Olympic Games are postponed. How did the Russian National Team manage this situation?
Of course these were bad news. We felt really sad for this situation overall. We though that the Olympic Games would be cancelled. For the moment, they just changed the dates. You have to look forward positive situations, so that we think that this is a great opportunity to improve our work.
How is Irina Alexandrovna (Viner) towards you?
Two years ago, when I was still fourteen years old and I competed in Junior competitions, I was really proud of myself because Irina Viner chose me to compete in several competitions. She is a great person. I am looking forward the future and my aim is to compete in World Championships.
How is life in National Training Center?
The first gymnast that I met there was Yuliya Bravikova. We started talking to each other. She was recovering from an injury and she always supported me. I also have a good relationship with Masha Sergeeva. My coach was Amina Zaripova. Right now, this is my third year in Novogorsk.

Yuliya Bravikova (RUS)
Could you talk about Amina Zaripova?
She talked to my mother:
“If you don’t like the way I am as a coach, then we won’t find things in common.”
But I felt really good sensations between us.
Were you scared of training with Amina Zaripova after watching the film “Over the Limit”
Over the Limit is an intimate portrait of the world’s most outstanding rhythmic gymnast Margarita Mamun, the main representative of the prestigious Russian National Team.
No, I wasn’t scared at all. But honestly, I have to say that after watching “Over the Limit” I thought about stop doing rhythmic gymnastics. I have never talked to Amina about the film.

Code of Points: Generalities in Rotations

Viktoriia Mazur (UKR)
A rotation is the action of rotating about an axis or centre. In Rhythmic Gymnastics there are 2 types of Rotations:
1. Rotations on the foot: relevé (Pivot) or flat foot
2. Rotations on other parts of the body
In adition, all the rotation difficulties must have the following characteristics:
- Minimum basic rotation of 360 degrees with a fixed and well-defined shape
(some could be 180 degrees). A well-defined shape means that the correct shape taken by the gymnast is held fixed during a minimum basic rotation; slight deviations in the shape.
Rotation will be evaluated according to the number of rotations performed. In case of an interruption, like a hop, only the value of the rotations already performed prior to the interruption will be valid.
They also must be coordinated with a minimum of one Fundamental Apparatus Technical element, specific to each apparatus and/ or an element from the Non-Fundamental Apparatus Technical groups in any part of the Rotation to be valid.

Ekaterina Selezneva (RUS)
In the series of identical Pivots (with two or more), each Pivot is performed one after the other without interruption and with heel support. Each Pivot in the series counts as one Difficulty. Each Pivot is evaluated separately (except for the combination of identical “Fouettés,” which counts as one Difficulty).
Different Rotations are Rotations with a different shape regardless of the number of rotations (valid also for “Fouettés” pivots).
The support leg whether stretched or bent does not change the value of the Difficulty, but the shape must be achieved before the end of the minimum basic rotation. In all Rotation Difficulties with ring, or back bend of the trunk, the head must be close to some part
of the leg (closed position, touching required).
Pivots with change of shape
- Counts as 1 Difficulty
- Each shape performed on relevé
- Each shape included in the Pivot must have a minimum basic rotation.
- Passing from one shape to another must be performed without heel support and as directly as possible
- With a minimum of 1 Fundamental Technical element specific to each apparatus and/or an element from the Non-Fundamental apparatus groups during any component of Pivot Difficulty

Vlada Nikolchenko (UKR)
Fouetté
- Counts as 1 Difficulty
- Two or more identical or different shapes connected with heel support
- Various shapes may be performed:
a) isolated
b) combined (consecutively or alternating) within the same “Fouetté” but none of those shapes may be repeated in another Fouetté Rotation. - During every two “Fouettés,” one different Fundamental technical element or Non-Fundamentalapparatus element is required.
Illusion
- Counts as one Difficulty
- For 2 or more identical shapes connected with or without heel support: +0.10 for each additional rotation above the base 360 degrees
- During every two Illusions, one different Fundamental technical element or Non-Fundamental apparatus element is required.

Thus, Anna Baranova, who was until now the National Head Coach for the last decade, is no longer part of the RFEG. Anna Baranova was born in Belarus and has a long career as an international coach. Nowadays she is living in Madrid, Spain.
She has held the position of National Head coach in two stages: the first from 2004 to 2008, and the second from 2011 to 2020. She also had the help of Sara Bayón as coach. Natalia Godunko’s past in Rhythmic Gymnastics
Natalia Godunko is one of the most successful gymnasts from Ukraine among others such as Anna Bessonova. Godunko finished 5th in Athens 2004 Summer Olympic Games : Ribbon 26.125, Clubs 26.375, Ball 25.800 and Hoop 25.500.
A week ago, Natalia confessed her experiences during her career as a gymnast.
“2007 was the most difficult year for me in sports. I injured my calf during World Championships in Patras. My coach have never believed in me. I could even say that preparation for Olympic Games were so tough. We were told that we needed to loose weight before Olympics. In my opinion, if we had a different psychological approach, we could have been more efficient. There was constant psychological pressure”.

“My experience at Olympic Games was awful. We couldn’t wait to the end of the Games. Because an athlete should be thrilled about going to an Olympiad. We counted the hours and seconds for the end of our performance. I think this is so wrong. ”
About Irina Deriugina
Irina Deriugina is the daughter of Albina Deriugina, owner of the biggest and the most popular school od Rhythmic Gymnastics in Ukraine.
“Really few people could deal with Irina Deriugina. Anna Bessonova wasn’t able to get ready with her at all. She was always with Albina. The only one who had a good relationship with Irina was Tamara Yerofeeva, World Champion in 2001. I can say that my relationship with Irina was just okay, I could be with Albina and Irina. They loved me but the preference was given to other gymnasts. I can’t say I didn’t feel some kind of love from Irina Deriugina.

Her friendship with Anna Bessonova
My best friend was Anna Bessonova. She was the number one in the team. Sometimes I could win competitions but she also accepted this situation. We could not have time for friends or boyfriends.
