Olympic Champion Alina Kabaeva will be the first FIG Ambassador for World Championships, that will be in held in Pesaro, Italy this summer. Since this year, the International Gymnastics Federation will elect honorary envoys of the sport for every World Cup.

The mission of the “Ambassador of Gymnastics” is to popularize and promote the sport at the international level. In addition, FIG Ambassador will take part in the medal ceremony , its press conference and other public events. The World Championships will be held in Pesaro (Italy) on August 30 – September 3, 2017.

Former Olympic Champion, Alina Kabaeva has recently appeared in public. The reason was that she spent more than 7 hours in a row in her own rhythmic gymnastics festival, called “Alina”. More than 400 gymnasts from all over Russia were invited.

This year, the central theme was about “70 years of Victory”.  Famous Russian  actors and singers were also invited to perform and even a member of Duma.

“Children are very talented”, said Alina about the gymnasts. Recently, Kabaeva was almost not seen in public, since some months ago.

Russian former gymnast, Alina Kabaeva, became a star in 1998 since she won Gold medal at Goodwill Games in New York. Her career was unstoppable: 15 gold medals at European Championships, 9 World Championships gold medals and Olympic Champion in Athens 2004.

She is one of the most successful gymnast in the history of Rhythmic Gymnastics. Nowadays, Alina is member of the Public Chamber of Russia.

These pictures were taken in 2001/2002 season, which was not easy for Alina. Kabaeva tested positive to a banned diuretic, Furosemide. She was disqualified for World Championships Madrid and Goodwill Games in 2001. In 2002 Alina could compete again. She became European Champion.

Elements

Some gymnasts and groups developed amazing skills in some elements. For example Melitina Staniouta or Caroline Weber execute the best cossack pivots.
Other gymnasts like Amina Zaripova, Lyasan Utyasheva or Almudena Cid described and performed they own elements, approved by F.I.G.
