Happy Birthday Carolina Rodríguez

Carolina competed for Spain since 2001, when she joined National Team. Her first major international competition was at Madrid (World Championships

Her first and actual coach is Ruth Fernández. Carolina shared a lot of great experiences with Ruth through her career.
Ruth Fernández and Carolina
In 2004, Carolina competed in Athens Olymmpic Games with the group (7th position). In 2007 she announced she would stop doing gymnastics. A year after she just competed in national competitions. In 2009 she was back in national team as Senior individual, winning several medals: bronze medal in World Cup Corbeil Final and bronze medal in AA Mediterranean Games in Pescara. Unfortunatly, she sprained her ankle in 2009, and once again in 2010.

In 2012 she was in London Olympic Games, obtaining a 14th position. After Olympic Games, Carolina underwent surgery in her ankle.

2013 could be a successful year for Carolina: for the moment, she won Spanish Queen’s Cup and “Miss Expression” prize at World Cup Minsk. She will compete aswell next week in European Championships in senior category. Good luck!

EC Vienna 2013: Schedule
European Union of Gymnastics has awarded the implementation of the Euro 2013 championships in rhythmic gymnastics at the Austrian Gymnastics Federation. Vienna is the most populous city in Austria and it is the seventh largest city in the European Union.
The selection of handsets is set in two-year intervals from the International Gymnastics composite. Five appliances stand for the individual and for the group competition for selection.
At the European Championship in Vienna 2013 the group routines will be staged for the junior category.
Each group of five athletes will show its performance with five hoops twice during the qualifying. The top eight groups will then compete in the finals.
Within the senior individual category the athletes will compete in the team contest where up to three athletes per
team show eight free programmes in total. The eight best gymnasts for each apparatus out of the team
contest will then compete in the finals.
Furthermore the three best performances of each gymnast out of the team contest are summed up and
the top 20 athletes of this assessment will be qualified for the individual team apparatus competition at
the European Championships 2014.

Rhythmic Gymnastics Leotards
Leotards are the one-piece garment that gymnasts wear in their exercises. Since 2001, COP allows leotards with or without skirts and unitards (since 1993) . The skirt should fall down on the hips and “tutu shape” is forbidden. Its length should not go lower than the pelvis. Tights are also allowed. Some years ago, leotards were embroidered with sequins and glitter, but nowadays they could also have Swarovski crystals on them.
