Gymnast of the Week: Patricia Bezzoubenko

This week (21st of February) is Canadian gymnast, Patricia Bezzoubenko’s birthday. Patricia splits her time between Russia and Canada. Her coach is Svetlana Joukova who is also international judge.
Patricia holds dual citizenship with Canada and Russia and spends long periods of time training with Russian National team in Moscow. Since she joined Canadian National team as a junior, she won a lot of medals: junior champion of Canada, first at 2011 Koop Cup and podium poditions at international competitions such as Montreal World Cup.
In 2012 Patricia won several medals at PanAmerican junior championships. A year after, she became senior gymnasts.

“I think I became a little bit better than when I was junior that I was like a kid. I just want to work. Of course I would like to go to Olympic Games, but I don’t want to think about it”
Last week, Patricia won Canada Rhythmic Championships as a senior for the second time.

Asian Junior Championships in Rhythmic Gymnastics is an event that will be held in Kuala Lumpur (MAS) this weekend and also, a qualifier for the 2nd Youth Olympic Games this summer.
The event includes apparatus finals for individuals and an all-around final which will be the key to qualify to YOG. Individual gymnasts from 13 to 15 years old will perform on ball, hoop, clubs and ribbon. Groups are composed of 5 gymnasts and compete with 5 hoops and 10 clubs.
The three top ranked individuals and the top groups will qualify for YOG and also China’s gymnasts who as the host country, have already got their place. The gymnasts who qualify for YOG must have been born in 1999.

- 22nd of February: Individual and Group Qualifications.
- 23st of February: AA Individual Final
- 24th of February: Individual and Groups Finals.

2014 Rhythmic Challenge features the top junior and senior rhythmic gymnasts from the USA. This even was held the U.S. Olympic Training Center’s Sports Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Laura Zeng of Libertyville, won easily junior All-Around competition, she even took first in all apparatus. Second position in junior all around was for Nastasya Generalova (Los Ángeles), followed by North Shore gymnasts, Camilla Feeley.

The Senior All-Around winner was Rebecca Sereda, followed by Aliya Protto and Jazzy Kerber. Cindy Lu of Isadora/Staten Island, N.Y., was fourth, and Serena Lu finished fifth in the all-around.

Information about Grand Prix Moscow 2014
Moscow is hosting the first Grand Prix of the year. It consists of 3 competitions:
First day (28th of February): Qualification for Youth Olympic Games 2014
Second day (1st of March): Gazprom Cup (in honor of Alina Kabaeva).
Third day (2nd of March): Grand Prix, finals.
Qualifications for Youth Olympic Games – Events
Europe: Grand Prix Moscow, Russia
Asia: Asian Championships, Malasia
Africa: 12th African Championships, South Africa
America: Pan American Championships, USA
Oceania: Qualifying Event, New Zealand
In each event, the best junior groups and the best junior individual gymnasts are qualifying. Groups consist of 5 gymnasts.

Miss Valentine 2014 Results
Viktoriya Mazur is 2014 “Miss Valentine” and winner of All-Around. Estonian Carmel Kallemaa was audience’s favorite. Team “Madonna” from Russia is the winner of AGG World Cup, followed by Janika Sunshine (Estonia) and Expresia (Russia).

Miss Valentine 2014
“Miss Valentine” is the second international Tournament held in Tartu (Estonia). This competition consists of: Rhythmic Competitions for Junior individual gymnasts, senior individual gymnasts and s and “AGG” Junior and Senior competition.
Today was the first day of competition. Bulgarian junior gymnast got the best results for today and got two medals in both apparatus: hoop and ball for the moment.

Senior competition was the most awaited part of today. Katsiaryna Halkina from Belarus performed an amazing ball routine. Arina Charopa, her team mate, was not at her best and got a low score for her ball routine.

Marina Durunda from Azerbaijan was one of the stars of this competition, getting more than 17 points in one of her routines. Viktoriya Mazur and Anastasiya Mulmina, from Ukraine also made some mistakes and Mulmina ended her ball routine with the apparatus out of the carpet.
